Minor in media and journalism

Students majoring outside the school may earn a minor in media and journalism. Participation is limited to 35 juniors and seniors collectively, and admission is competitive. The school may limit enrollment in some subplans (specializations) to avoid pressure on any required courses for majors. Interested students must submit an application in the Student Records & Registration suite in Carroll Hall by Jan. 15 of their sophomore or junior year — preference is given to sophomores with a GPA higher than 3.1. Download the application.

AD and PR subplans typically have the largest number of applicants which means the standards for admission to these are higher. Sophomores interested in applying for the Environmental Studies BA/Journalism MA dual degree program who wish to complete a MEJO minor are encouraged to apply for BEJ, PR, RP or VC subplans. This dual program is detailed under the department of Environment and Ecology in the 2015-16 UG Bulletin.

There are seven minor subplans within the school. Prerequisites apply unless otherwise indicated. Until Fall 2016, School of Media and Journalism courses will be listed under JOMC instead of MEJO.
