Current UNC students do not formally apply to become Media and Journalism majors.
How to Become a Major?
- Pre-declare during first-year or sophomore year through the General College (optional)
- Complete 45 credit hours
- Earn a 3.1 minimum cumulative GPA
- Visit the student records staff in Carroll Hall for assistance
Prospective undergraduate students who are not currently enrolled at UNC – such as high school seniors and transfer students from another university – apply to the University through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students may declare their intention to major in Media and Journalism within the admissions application.
Prospective graduate students apply online through the UNC Graduate School.
